Posted on: 05/12/2026

The New York Mets are calling up their top position player prospect, A.J. Ewing, in an effort to spark a struggling offense. According to multiple reports, the 21-year-old will be promoted from Triple-A Syracuse, where he has played just 12 games since being elevated on April 27.

Ewing, ranked as the Mets’ No. 2 prospect and No. 78 overall on MLB Pipeline’s list, has made an immediate impact at the highest minor league level. In those 12 games, he is 15-for-46 with three doubles, one triple, nine runs, four RBIs, and five stolen bases. The Athletic’s Will Sammon was the first to report the news of Ewing’s promotion.

A versatile player capable of handling both outfield and second base, Ewing is expected to provide the Mets with a much-needed offensive jolt as the team searches for consistent production.
