Yulián Mosquera, the younger brother of Arsenal defender and Spain international Cristhian Mosquera, is making a name for himself in Valencia’s youth system. At just 15 years old, the center-back has already caught the attention of Real Madrid, who are reportedly planning to sign him during the next summer transfer window for their reserve divisions. Yulián has debuted for Spain’s Under-15 side and even captained the team in a recent friendly. Although his playing history is short, being part of the Mosquera family gives him an extra edge, as he shares his brother’s position and style.

According to ESPN, Real Madrid’s scouts have been tracking Yulián for some time and believe his attributes are very similar to Cristhian’s—both are fast and physically imposing. Cristhian’s rise from Valencia to Arsenal for €15 million after 90 appearances, and his subsequent 31 games under Mikel Arteta, sets a long-term blueprint for what could happen with Yulián. The elder Mosquera has also attracted interest from Everton, Napoli, and Atlético Madrid in the past.

An intriguing twist is that Yulián could still opt to play for Colombia. While Cristhian was invited to Colombia’s U20 setup but chose to wait for Spain’s senior team, Yulián’s current path with Spain’s U15 might lead to a similar decision. However, representing Colombia is not completely off the table, especially given his ancestry.

Interestingly, Real Madrid already have another Colombian-Spanish talent in their ranks: Cristian Perea, a 20-year-old midfielder who has played over 60 games for the club’s youth teams. Though yet to debut for the first team, Perea featured in the U20 World Cup, reaching the semifinals where he faced Colombia—his second nationality.
